Job Description:
About the Position:The Financial Controller is responsible for
driving the business strategy by developing commercial and
operational reports that reflect a deep understanding of the
business and its broader commercial market dynamics. The incumbent
is responsible for upholding the Group's control environment,
designing, and implementing new controls where necessary, and
overseeing all financial reporting.
The Financial Controller also plays a large part in providing
relevant and timely information to the Executive Team, to support
assessments of the business's strategy and objectives. Finally, the
successful incumbent will develop and mentor the finance team and
identify career progression pathways within.
Reports to: CFOEssential Functions:
- Ensures the preparation of timely and accurate monthly
management accounts and reports for local and Group
management.
- Maintains the Group's control environment, as set out in the
Group Accounting Manual and other associated control and procedure
documents, within all facets of the business.
- Responsible for leading the year end audit and internal audit
processes.
- Assists the CFO with periodic reports to the Group's Audit
Committee to explain the processes adopted and undertaken by
management, and regularly reviews the effectiveness of internal
controls covering financial, operational and compliance
controls.
- Involvement in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and
business plans and continued monitoring and review of performance
against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the
board
- Ad hoc analysis as required.
- Lead and manage Accounting and Finance team members and comply
with supervisory expectations.
- Travel up to 20% is expected.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures and ensure the
same is followed by team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:
- Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA,
CMA).
- 5+ years' experience in the accounting field with knowledge of
IFRS.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory/leadership
role.
- Prior experience working with an ERP, preferably SAP is
desired.Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:
- Proficient with accounting systems, reporting tools, and MS
Office with the ability to learn new information management systems
quickly.
- Willingness and proven ability to develop processes and
procedures quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and
independently.
- Detail oriented and ability to perform tasks with a high degree
of accuracy.
- Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills, and
ability to effectively interact with management, employees,
regulators and external auditors.
- Ability to communicate and enforce adherence to processes,
procedures and performance objectives.
- Leadership and decision-making capabilities.
- Superior problem-solving, analytical, time management and
organizational skills.
- Identifies process gaps and inefficiencies, drives process
improvements to mitigate risk and drive efficiency in a fast-paced
and growing environment.Physical Requirements:
- Ability to interact effectively with employees and other
individuals.
- Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of
stress in a demanding and dynamic environment.
- Able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and
appropriate clothing.
- Lift up to 15 lbs.
- Effectively read, write, speak, and communicate in English
fluently.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability
to walk, climb, reach, turn, grab, pinch, and other physical
movements typical of this type of position as required to
effectively perform duties.
- Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, as well
as commonly used and specialty software to complete necessary
functions.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Ability to travel by automobile, airplane, and other modes of
economy class public transportation are required.Working
Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is frequently exposed to a typical office environment, and
occasionally exposed to the plant environment near moving
mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments,
chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The
facility is an industrial manufacturing plant with an attached
