Job Description:
Primary Purpose The Director of Admissions position provides
supervision for the functions of the JD Admissions Office under the
guidance of the Sr. Assistant Dean for Admissions, Diversity
Initiatives and Financial Aid. Essential Functions Admissions and
Recruitment (75%) Assists the Sr. Assistant Dean in overseeing
effective recruiting, admissions, and yield strategies. Coordinates
the annual recruitment calendar with the Assistant Dean and
provides leadership and training for seasonal and alumni
recruiters. Meets with pre-law advisors; makes law school
presentations to groups of undergraduate students. Represents
Pacific McGeorge at selected graduate/professional or law fairs and
forums. Assists with the coordination special recruiting events,
including Experience McGeorge, Admitted Students Day, Discover Law
Day, and Open Houses. Supervise and manage admissions office,
including supervision of key Admissions staff including the
graduate recruiters, student workers and student ambassadors.
Provide oversight support and management to the department
Assistant Director of Admissions and Diversity Initiatives and
Administrative Assistant. Supervise admissions team members’
workflow and department mailings for recruiting events, prospective
applicants, pre-law advisors, admit packets and other mailings as
part of recruiting and marketing efforts. Assists Sr. Assistant
Dean with the development of admissions publications and
communication collateral. Manages the communication flow to
prospects, applicants, admitted students and waitlisted students as
well as prelaw advisors. Manages creation and dissemination of
approved admissions newsletters, recruitment correspondence, and
marketing pieces for prospective students. Markets McGeorge
programs on a regional, local, and national level. Responsible for
the coordination of social media engagement for the JD Admissions
Department. In conjunction with the Sr. Assistant Dean, reads and
evaluates applications as assigned. Coordinates data and
information for the selection process of McGeorge’s competitive
scholarship programs. Communicates with applicants and prospective
applicants by telephone, in the office, by mail, and by e-mail to
answer inquiries and provide information about Pacific McGeorge
programs. Provides in-depth counsel to prospective students,
admitted students, waitlisted, and denied applicants. Database
Management (25%) Serves as the Admissions Office’s data manager
maintaining current Pacific McGeorge admissions and student
database systems (Unite, Aces2, and Banner) as well any interface
systems utilized between the platforms to ensure the quality and
accuracy of all admissions data entered is properly transferred to
the university database for reporting purposes. Generate and manage
requests for data, data analysis, and reporting of incoming student
statistical/historical reports, including data analysis from
inquiry to enrollment as needed or requested by and under the
direct supervision of the Sr. Assistant Dean. Serves as department
liaison leading and supporting technology projects and updates to
Unite and Banner databases and reporting any office needs and/or
issues to the Sr. Assistant Dean and, as appropriate, to the
Director of Admissions. Manage admissions decisions in the
database, including oversight of the processing of admissions
decisions and admit letters for final approval by the Sr. Assistant
Dean, mail out of admissions decisions by admissions staff, and
execution of strategy of general office communications (including
status updates and emails for applicants and admitted students)
leading to final decision and/or enrollment. Counsel applicants on
complete law school applications and communicate with them
regarding missing or incomplete documents. Train admissions staff
and faculty committee members on using Unite and/or Banner for
accessing information, running of reports and marketing pieces, and
file review and decisions. Performs other related duties as
assigned by the Sr. Assistant Dean. University of the Pacific

Bachelor’s Degree. Five (5) years of significant work experience in
a law school or university level admissions office. Preferred
Qualifications Education and Experience: Juris Doctorate from an
ABA accredited law school (preferred) OR a bachelor’s degree
(preferably in counseling, business/public administration, or
related field such as marketing) and a minimum of three (3) years’
experience in a university-level admissions office. Strong
organizational and time management skills. Two (2) years of
training and supervising team members. The incumbent must possess
excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition,
communication skills must reflect excellent interpersonal skills to
interact effectively with prospective applicants, applicants,
campus administrative offices and staff related to the admissions
process. Collegiate and/or law school level admissions processes.
Plan, manage and implement recruiting events on campus; work
effectively with minimum supervision; exercise sound judgment in
providing information and answering questions; correctly interpret
and explain policies and procedures; prepare statistical reports;
exercise diplomacy and deal effectively with people; handle a
variety of inquiries and situations in a calm precise way; work
well with deadlines, maintain complete confidentiality except as to
authorized sources. Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, Adobe, and
database (preferably ACES2/ UNITE ). Intermediate to advance
internet research skills also required. Basic knowledge of constant
contact or other CRM platforms. Basic knowledge or ability to learn
basic publishing and photo editing software skills. Experience and
sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and
cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice,
equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage
and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in
their work.
