Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinate's manufacturing launch for new or revised products, develops and recommends continuous improvement strategies and ideas designed to reduce cost, eliminate product / process variability, and achieve measurable increases in manufacturing margins, quality, productivity, safety, and related operational / customer satisfaction performance measures.
Essential Job Functions - Assures process safety by designing machine guarding, highlighting risks, and developing processes that are safe for the operators. - Develops and audits Preventative Maintenance programs for production equipment. Will not be responsible for execution of the program, but to make sure program exists and conforms to equipment manufacturers recommended guidelines. - Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment and conferring with equipment vendors. - Develops and maintains process documentation (SOP, WIP, Standard Work) and material specifications to support manufacturing continuity. - Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods and testing fixtures. - Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. - Works with plant leadership including quality, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing to lead continuous improvement initiatives, training, and reporting. - Provide oversight, technical support, and training throughout Operations to drive short and long-term process improvements. - Performs other duties as assigned in support of the facility's continuous improvement objectives. Required Skills, Education, and Experience - Requires a B.S. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering. - 0-3 years' experience in manufacturing preferred - Able to work effectively and build relationships with people at all levels. Must be able to coordinate cross functional processes and advise others not under his/her direct supervision. - Proficient with Computer Assisted Design (CAD), and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook). - Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles and problem-solving methods. - Basic understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal forming, laser welding, machining, mechanical assembly, and production testing. - This position has no direct reports. Physical Requirements and Work Environment - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand and arms to perform repetitive motions. - Work on concrete floors, wearing steel toes boots, hearing protection and protective eyewear. - Frequent standing and sitting. - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. - Frequently subjected to interruptions, multiple calls, and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
