contribute to their team's success by building and extending

power beautiful client applications. Staff software engineers
collaborate with teammates to tackle the hardest features in a
sprint and deliver foundational architecture improvements in small,
safe patches. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly

supporting our code in production. Our production systems rely on
React Native, React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Nestjs, GraphQL,
Docker, Rails, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux. Our
workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture
is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA,
HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA.What You'll Accomplish
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant systems
leveraging Kafka, Python, TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS.
- Lead and participate in architectural discussions, proposing
innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
- Implement and optimize event-driven architectures using Apache
Kafka.
- Develop backend services and APIs using TypeScript, ensuring
clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Manage and scale databases to support high-availability and
large-scale data applications.
- Ensure observability of systems using tools like Datadog, Sumo
Logic, and Sentry for real-time monitoring, log management, and
error tracking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product
managers, staff and senior staff engineer and engineering
leaders
- Advocate for best practices in software development,
architecture, security, and system observability.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior
engineers, promoting best practices in software engineering,
testing, and development.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in AI,
machine learning, and cloud technologies. Continuously improve the
platform based on industry best practices.Hinge Health Hybrid
ModelWe believe that remote work and in-person work have their own
advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage
the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to
be in the office 3 days/week. The San Francisco office has a
dog-friendly workplace program.Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science,
Engineering or related technical field
- 8+ years of non-internship full time professional software
development experience
- 3+ years of experience in mentoring and leading junior team
members, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and
contributing to project planning and decision-making
- 2+ years experience working in distributed systems,
microservices architectures, and large-scale data processing
- 2+ years experience building CI/CD pipelines and deploying
services to the cloud
- 2+ years experience with cloud platforms and containerization
toolsPreferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or
CloudFormation
- Familiarity with data engineering practices and tools (e.g.,
Spark, Kafka, ETL pipelines)
- Familiarity with full-stack development concepts, enabling
seamless collaboration with front-end teams and consideration of
user-facing aspects when designing backend systems
- Experience with ReactJS framework on UI frontend and Node
JS/Typescript on the backend
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to lead
large-scale projects from concept to delivery
- Strong understanding of system design principles, microservices
architecture, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog
(performance monitoring), Sumo Logic (log management), and Sentry
(error tracking)
- Some experience building and and integrating with AI/ML
platformsCompensationThis position will have an annual salary, plus
equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a
guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on
factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work
location. The annual salary range for this position is $176,000 -
