About the Position:The Technical Services Engineer provides technical support to various internal departments such as drafting, customer service, sales, marketing and operations, as well as external businesses. In addition, the Technical Services Engineer will provide support for AWIP's growing and diverse product line. AWIP has been experiencing sustained growth and the Technical Services team has continued to grow to meet these new demands. This new position will be critical in ensuring that we remain the standard in the industry for innovation and customer service. Duties includes project technical and engineering work involving sustainable building design, structural calculations, research and development, specification review, and code compliance.Essential Functions: * Communicate directly with architects, general contractors, installation contractors regarding the design of AWIP products via phone or email.* Provide technical services support including engineering structural analysis, design, product use, detailing, to customers, internal drafting, and AWIP's sales team.* Review project specifications to ensure requirements such as materials, performance, testing, installation, design or warranties can be met.* Perform testing to analyze performance of products to validate design values used in calculations.* Aid in product development, testing, installation, certification and research of new products and continuous improvement of existing products.* Assist with developing, updating and maintaining product technical documents* Communicate regularly with Drafting, Field Service, Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales teams as required.* Assist Technical Services Manager and Technical Director with assigned duties as necessary.* Comply with all safety and company policies and procedures.* Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:* Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural design emphasis.* Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla a plus.* Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects at once and be able to prioritize by importance, schedule and necessity.* Technical knowledge to understand and effectively communicate building science methodologies, design, technical information, building codes and standards in an understandable manner.* Must be able to effectively use a computer and have intermediate proficiency MS Excel, MS Word, and email and basic proficiency in the rest of MS Office.Essential Requirements:* Ability to work 8 hours per day with ability to work overtime as need to complete time sensitive tasks.* Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment with extreme temperatures and outdoor exposure at times.* Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, technical and contract documents.* Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.* Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.* Must have visual acuity, discernment of color and texture, and finger dexterity.* Ability to read, write, type, and verbally communicate effectively in English.* Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
