FIRE CHIEF, CORRECTIONAL FACIL Final Filing Date: 2/26/2021 Application Methods: Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) By Mail Drop-off Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) was implemented. PLP 2020 requires that each full-time employee receive a 4.62 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 12 hours of PLP 2020 leave credits monthly through June 2022. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Acts under the direction of the Warden and under the direct supervision of the Associate Warden, Business Services. Plans, organizes and directs the fire prevention, fire suppression, fire education, and safety training programs of the California Medical Facility (CMF) and the California State Prison-Solano (SOL). Directly supervises Fire Captains, Hazardous Materials Specialist, and indirectly supervises inmate firefighters. Promotes acceptable attitudes and behavior of inmates under supervision and performs related tasks. Manages mutual and automatic aid agreements with outside fire and other governmental agencies. Serves as the Institution's Safety Officer. Ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations, laws, and policies within the institution affecting department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) employees, inmates, facilities, and programs. Serves as the Chairperson of the institution safety committee. Assumes command during emergencies involving fire fighting operations, rescue operations, building evacuations, medical response, etc., with assistance and cooperation of all prison personnel. Reviews and revises Operational Plans annually.
